I love my house in Newport Shores and love being a member of the community. We bought our house in 2002. How lucky! My family is 5 people and a cat. In 2016 we left the country and went to live in Japan for two years. It was a great adventure.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband is an entrepreneur. My two oldest kids are in college. My youngest is a senior in high school. Our cat is the family therapist. Pet therapy is the best!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Currently I own a travel planning business specializing in luxury travel. I started it after we traveled all over Japan and SE Asia and I loved the planning process. In my past life I was a Press Secretary for Members of the US Congress in Washington DC. And before that a television news-writer and producer.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Eat Chow in Newport Shores is a great neighborhood hangout. I also love Mayur in CdM and Mint Leaf Thai on the Balboa Peninsula.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I arrived in 2002. That’s a long time ago!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
20+ years ago Jeff Boyles lived a few houses away from us. He is such a great guy and his family is wonderful. Now he’s NB Fire Chief Boyles. I still miss them.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Schitt’s Creek is so hilarious and unique. I loved that show. But my favorite TV show is actually Inside the NBA.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
If you want to accomplish something you need to have a vision of what that is and then you need a plan on how to get there. It’s so much harder without a plan.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Maybe back to Japan. I miss our friends there. I thought we would have gone back by now but the pandemic happened.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Bruce Poon Tip, founder of G Adventures. He’s a visionary and inspiration who wants to change lives and lift communities through travel. If only Newport Burger were still around.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
In Newport Shores there’s a real community centered around the pool, clubhouse and outdoor landscape. It’s a special place in Newport.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Traveling the world for fun and for my job!
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Someday I want to write a book.

My grad school roommate’s Dad. He never got angry ever. He was amazing.
