I am a residential architect that has been out my own for the past 19 years. I love to work with clients to create their dream home and can’t imagine doing anything else.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have been married to my wife Beth for 28 years. We have two sons…. Riley is 21 years old and is attending college at the University of Michigan. Dylan is 19 years old and is attending the University of Oregon.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Architect – Since the 7th grade, I somehow knew that I wanted to be an architect. I’m still unsure where that came from since we didn’t know any architects and was never exposed to construction/design/etc. I love to work with clients and design specific spaces for them to live in.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
“A” – great service and always good food; Cannery – sushi; Trenta Pizza – hidden gem.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
19 years; We moved here from Portland, OR before the birth of our youngest son. I grew up in Tustin and spent many years visiting Newport Beach so when we decided to return to Orange County to be closer to family, we settled in Newport Beach.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Scott Richards – Slightly Choppy – for great artistic inspiration; Chris Brigandi – Arbor Real Estate – for how to create a local business.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Ted Lasso for the feel good vibes!
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Family and friends are the most important thing in life.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I LOVE to travel. I’m pretty sure that I work in order to fund my travel addiction! Antarctica is on my list but might be a few years off. I just hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro with my 2 sons in June.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Elon Musk; Controversial figure but interesting and innovative; Probably stick to somewhere casual…..Super Panga for tacos followed up with drinks at the Class of ’47
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
We love to ride our bikes everywhere and enjoy running into friends on the boardwalk or out to dinner.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still in Newport. Hopefully working a little less, but still enjoying architecture and maybe a little more travel.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m pretty boring I guess…..no real hidden secrets.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Living in Newport Beach. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Great local architects continuously inspire me to try new things and hone my craft. Brandon Architects, Eric Olsen, Anders Lasater, etc.
